A qualification exercise generally consists of three sequential phases (IQ, OQ, and PQ) with the following purposes:

  • IQ: The purpose of IQ is to ensure that the premises, supporting utilities and equipment have been built and installed in compliance with their design specifications.
  • OQ: A successful OQ exercise provides assurance that the premises, supporting utilities and equipment operate in accordance with their design specifications. Generally, OQ is carried out on equipment when it is empty.
  • PQ: Following OQ, a PQ provides additional assurance through further testing that a specific process will consistently produce a product meeting its predetermined specifications and quality attributes. The outcome of a successful PQ exercise is a formal confirmation that the equipment, associated systems and operational processes can be “released” for routine use. In contrast to OQ, PQ is carried out on equipment that is loaded with product.

The Thermo Scientific REVCO TSX70086V is characterized by innovative solutions and high energy efficiency. Medical samples can be cooled and frozen without any problems.

The choice of materials was also made based on ecological considerations. The water vapor-foamed insulation is based on high-quality polyurethane - this prevents chemical emissions. Natural refrigerants (R290/R170) also reduce the burden on the environment. The interior of the ultra-low freezer is made of either sheet steel or stainless steel. The outside of the housing is made of robust, cold-rolled steel with powder-baked paint.

A big plus point of the REVCO TSX70086V is its barely noticeable operating noise. This ensures a pleasant working environment that is not affected by machine noise. The ultra-low freezer's noise level is no more than 48 decibels. This puts it on a par with standard household refrigerators.

Despite its low operating noise and its environmentally friendly properties, the freezer is powerful: over time, the temperature variation is only 0.85 °C. In addition, the TSX70086V recovers quickly after the door is opened: the device returns to its original value in just 28 minutes. The time required to go from -80 °C to -50 °C, however, is longer - around 290 minutes are required. This is particularly useful in emergency situations such as power outages.

The device is controlled via a capacitive LCD touchscreen. There are numerous useful functions and information to choose from. This can mean viewing logs, but also setting alarm values ​​or saving data on a USB stick. Password protection provides the necessary security, and the door can also be locked.

Thermo Scientific's V-Drive technology is particularly successful. It automatically detects the required cooling capacity. If the ultra-low freezer is not in use for several hours, the speed and performance of the compressor are automatically reduced. This saves electricity and ensures quiet operation. If, however, the TSX70086V is in continuous operation, the speed is increased to ensure that it cools down to the original temperature as quickly as possible.
